Math skills are supported through snack activities that encourage patterning, sorting, counting, and balancing. Students may create pattern fruit kabobs, measure ingredients to bake a special treat, or count marshmallow “teeth” for fruit monsters! We encourage students to understand the power of numbers, weights, measurements and shapes in their daily lives.
ADVENTURES IN SCIENCE
Students learn about the world around them using hands-on experimentation and their own natural curiosity, dabbling in a variety of disciplines including astronomy, nature and physics. Science vocabulary words such as observation, theories, and predictability are introduced.
STORYTELLING ON STAGE
Fun stories such as fairy tale classics are read to the children and then the class works together to bring the story to life “on stage.” This enrichment fosters a love of reading, stimulates imagination and introduces students to the dramatic arts.
Students are exposed to Spanish through songs, puppets and pictures. They enjoy books, art projects, learning new songs, and storytelling in Spanish.
Children learn about great artists such as Paul Klee, Monet, and Van Gogh through books and pictures. A variety of mediums are introduced including pastels, paint, craypas and shape cutting, building fine motor skills and giving students the opportunity to make their own masterpieces.
